Friendship ‘cross the Mersey

Throughout lockdown, the Savera UK Support Team ran online coffee mornings to reduce social isolation for our service users. Lockdown easing has now allowed the team to restart day trips and in-person ‘Women’s Hour’ drop-in sessions.

A recent Women’s Hour session included a trip on the Mersey Ferry. Savera UK Support Worker, Merfat said: “We all gathered in the lovely sunny weather and set sail along the River Mersey. Our women loved the cool air and fresh water, and the children were giddy about the ruffles and waves in the river. Some of our women expressed that this was a first-time event for them and all our women said that they had enjoyed the experience.

“Now that we’re coming back together, little by little, following the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown restrictions, these moments mean more to us than they probably ever did. One of our women even said, ‘I felt like I lost everyone when [the first] lockdown happened, and it’s been hard to make friends again’.

“To us, this means a lot because it is our purpose of being able to set up these sessions and really bring our strong powerful women together. We hope to set up plenty of sessions like these in the future too!”
